Siblings Growing Up with a Brother or Sister with a PDD Needed for Study

A unique opportunity will be available for siblings growing up with a brother or sister with a Pervasive Developmental Disorder (e.g. Autism, Asperger’s, PDD-NOS).  Your child is invited to attend a sibling social group, as part of an action research group being conducted by Elizabeth McWilliams Hewitt, who is completing an M.A. in Education.

This research is investigating the unique needs of siblings who have a brother or sister diagnosed with a PDD.  The purpose of this study is to develop resources to assist siblings of individuals with PDD, which will provide support and information specific to their unique needs.

Participation in the group involves two half-hour interviews of the parent(s) and typical sibling.  Your son/daughter would then attend four group meetings (2 hours) with other siblings whose brother or sister has a PDD.

If you are interested in your son/daughter participating in an intervention group for sibling of children with a PDD, and would like more information please contact Elizabeth McWilliams Hewitt at
604-946-0401 or 604-817-5996.
